Performing is a multifaceted art form that involves the use of the human voice to communicate a story to the audience.

It is a skill that combines technical proficiency with emotional expression, making it both challenging and rewarding for those who pursue it.
Coaching plays a crucial role in honing and developing your abilities, to improve vocal technique, expand vocal range, flexibility, stamina and enhance your performance skills.
At its core, vocal performance starts with balancing the co-ordination between breath pressure and flow, phonation modes and gesture, and resonating spaces. Creating, supporting and shaping the sound you mould into ‘your sound’.

Over time as a vocalist, you will develop the skill to understand and shape these elements to produce a wide range of tones, dynamics, and vocal effects to convey complex emotive subjects and character.

As I’m sure you know by now, this requires dedicated practice and continued guidance, singing and/or performative vocal work is an ongoing lifelong discovery as we age, take on different genres, or performative roles!
Coaching encompasses a variety of exercises and techniques designed to strengthen the voice and improve vocal control whilst allowing open and free expression.
"Exercises should not make you more technical, but more free. You will also find that doing exercises leads you to know something more of yourself"
Cecily Berry
Voice coach, RSC

I am also a big advocate on emphasising proper vocal health and technique, reducing the risk of strain or injury during performances. By promoting healthy vocal habits, you are more likely to maintain vocal and physical longevity and sustain your expressive potential over time.

I am often the first person to notice voice change and can help in starting the ‘referral process’ to ENT for Endoscopy.
